The History of Wentings
If pedal power is your thing, then no trip to Mission is complete without a “brake” at Wentings’ Cycle & Mountain Shop. All two-wheeled options are available – including mountain bikes, road bikes, E-bikes, hybrids, and BMX. If you already have your wheels, get your accessories and bicycle parts here, including GPS computers, bike racks, sunglasses, clothing, and more. Bikes are not the only thing on offer, with snowboards also for sale and bike and snowboard servicing available.
Wentings resides on Railway ave, in Mission BC, and has strong roots in the community. But it hasn’t always been there, read below to find out more!

Planet Earth
Planet Earth Cycles was opened in Mission, in the building now known as Copper Hall.

The Wentings
In the fall of 1978, the Wenting family was approached by Jack and Joan Carson regarding the opportunity to purchase their small bike shop, Planet Earth Cycles. Bill and Peg changed the name to Wentings’ Cycle Shop on Dec. 1, 1978, almost 50 years ago.
A long time resident of Mt. Lehman Road, Bill coached speed skating, cycling and loved rugby and the great outdoors.

Moving Locations
The original store was only 650 square feet and more space was needed. A 1,200-square-foot location on the street front became available. In 1981, Bruce came on for the busy seasons, eventually becoming full time in 1984 just as a move to a 2,500-square-foot space came available.

Legacy
Over the years, the family kept up their attachment to the sport, assisting athletes with equipment and organizing events. On the walls of the current shop proudly hang jerseys from many great Canadian champions – Vince Hartmann, Alison Testroete, Ricky Federau and Svein Tuft, to name a few. The store turned 40 on December 1st, 2018.
